The Noto Peninsula, nestled against the northern
shore of Honshu, presents the cyclist with fabulous
terrain and relatively 'undiscovered' areas rich in
Japanese tradition. Ranging from white, sandy
shorelines, to the lofty peaks of the Japan Alps,
Noto is famous for its ancient Kanazawa castle and
Kenrokuen garden, as well as traditional dancing,
crafts, pottery and lacquerware. Jitensha tours this
area only in May and October, at the height of local
activities, to take full advantage of these marvellous
glimpses into the traditions and artistry of
old-world Japan.
